Hello Broadstairs The last month has been a busy one, with the continued non stop heat, there seems to have been no let up on the isle. The Broadstairs fireworks had sadly brought some anti-social behaviour back to the town on 22nd July. Police were in the town on the day and up to 15 persons were dispersed, up to 10 stop searches and two arrests were made. The fireworks on Wed 29th also had the extra to it, in that we his 30+ degrees during the day. A strong police presence was in the town for this day also, including myself. As a result up to 34 dispersals were issued, up to 3 arrests and at least 3 stop searches conducted. Only one incident occurred on the beach itself during the day which resulted in arrests. The fireworks themselves went well. Along with being in the town for the hot weather I have been able to conduct some other proactive work, including round road safety, speed checks were conducted on one evening on Callis Court Road after complaints from a resident. Although we did not issue any tickets we will continue to conduct speed checksI have also been able to seize an e-scooter of two young persons riding on the pavement at pedestriansWhilst on foot patrol in Broadstairs a local store reported a theft, within 5 minutes we have located the suspect, searched him and recovered the stolen goods with the suspect facing prosecution for these offencesYesterday a male who had stolen several fragrances from a shop has made off from me, after a short foot chase I have located him hiding behind a wall. The male was arrested and it was found he was wanted for a warrant to appear before the courtAt the start of the month I received a complaint from a resident of a local school student kicking their door everyday on their way to school. Within one afternoon I have emailed images to the school, obtained a name for the student, their parents were informed and the student was at the residents house apologising for their behaviour. Whilst on cycling on patrol a colleague and I have located an adult male wanted domestic offences, a swift arrest has resulted in the victim being safeguarded. With this month being August, I have no doubt it will continue to be busy and I hope to be in the town as much as possible.
